Build speed, accuracy and confidence in IELTS Academic Reading
The IELTS Academic Reading sub-test asks you to read three passages and answer 40 questions in 60 minutes, with no extra time to transfer answers. This collection is designed to help IELTS Academic candidates meet that challenge through guided strategy and extensive practice.
It brings together 100 graded IELTS Academic Reading practice tests and a practical skills guide, in two PDF volumes included in a single purchase.
What’s included
Volume 1
- A practical skills and strategy guide
- The first 50 practice tests
- Answer keys for Volume 1 tests
Volume 2
- The remaining 50 practice tests
- Answer keys for Volume 2 tests
- An IELTS Academic Reading band score table, showing how raw marks translate into approximate band scores
The strategy guide covers four key areas
- Guessing and developing vocabulary: six pointers for working out unfamiliar words (context, contrast, explanation, word group, logic, and word roots, prefixes and suffixes), plus tips on word families and vocabulary card slips
- Improving your reading skills in general: guidelines for reading efficiently, including reading in chunks, avoiding translation, and not worrying about every unknown word
- Scanning and skimming techniques: step-by-step methods for the two skills needed to read quickly and locate answers
- Question-type advice: techniques for the following question types:
- True/False/Not Given and Yes/No/Not Given
- Sentence completion
- Matching
- Multiple choice
- Summary completion
- Completing tables, diagrams and flow charts
- Matching specific information
- Short answers
- Classification
The guide also includes advice on when guessing may help.
How it helps you improve
- Practise under realistic conditions. Work through full passages and question sets in the standard exam format.
- Learn the techniques, then apply them. Each strategy is explained first, then reinforced through the practice tests.
- Check your own progress. Use the answer keys to mark your work and the band score table to estimate where you stand.
- Build reading stamina. With 100 tests, you can practise reading for a full hour, as the exam requires.

Points to confirm
- Page count: The two files have 484 and 494 pages (978 in total). I left page count out of the copy because that includes front matter and answer keys, so you may prefer to state your own figure.
- Source material: The contents pages show the tests come from several published sources, including Cambridge IELTS 1–10 in Volume 2. I left all publisher and “Cambridge” references out of the copy, but please check licensing before selling, as with the Listening eBook.
- Band table: It is labelled as translating marks into band scores and is approximate. The introduction notes that actual conversions can vary slightly by test difficulty, so I used the word “approximate”.
- Listening title: If the published Listening title differs from the one I proposed earlier, tell me and I will adjust the Reading title and cross-references to match.
